2014 Animation Demo Reel

Well now that the film is over, I'm allowed to post some of my Animations! This is a placeholder for my actual Animation demo reel as I plan on doing a few more this summer. If you came to the premiere I hope you remember some of these shots and enjoyed yourself!

Mike Wazowski, Josh Janousky

So since Monsters Inc. came out back in 2001, people have been calling me "Mike Wazowski, Josh Janousky". As one of my all time favorite Pixar Characters, and the one I get compared too the most oddly enough, I decided it would be appropriate to do my next Minimalist Poster of Mike. While I know not everyone enjoyed Monsters University, I really did because it focused on Mike and gave more insight into his life. If you haven't seen it yet, stop reading this blog and go now! Seriously, why haven't you seen it yet?

Anyways, I digress, and I hope you like the poster!

I really like how this one turned out and I hope you do too.

As always enjoy!

EXTERMINATE!

So it has been a while since I did any typographic art, and while I still need to complete my set of the Doctors, I decided to finish another piece I started around the same time that I did "Are You My Mummy?" I was requested to do another poster in the same style, this time focusing on the iconic Dalek's. For this one I ended up getting my friend Cayla's help. I had quite a hard time figuring out what font to use for the laser blast and the direction of the blast, so after several long conversations we finally figured it out. Thanks Cayla! Anyways I'm proud of how this piece turned out and I hope you like it as much as I do!

As always enjoy!

Minimalist Firefly Poster

So recently I finally watched both Firefly and Serenity. I know, I know, what took me so long? Honestly I just never got around to watching it. Well now that I've finished the show and watched the movie, I thought it was fitting that I make another Minimalist poster. One thing that fascinated me about Firefly was the Serenity itself. The reason being that with most Sci-Fi ships, they have some sort of weapons system, yet the Serenity had no weapons whatsoever. Because of this I knew that my first Firefly poster would have to feature this unique ship. The second thing I decided I wanted to feature was the use of the Chinese culture in the series, which is why I went with the Chinese characters for Serenity in the center of the piece.

By now it should be obvious to anyone that I'm a huge fan of minimalist posters and I feel that every poster I make I improve my skills as an artist. I plan on making at least one or two more Firefly posters in the near future. Leave a comment below if you have a guess as to what or who they may be about!

As always enjoy!
